constructive criticism stamp by fear-the-brilliance constructive criticism stamp by fear-the-brilliance
There is really a huge difference between posting constructive criticism and posting a rude comment. Constructive criticism helps the artist get better by giving them advice whereas saying "this is terrible" is just being unkind to the artist's artwork.

Even though I got a comment saying "Study anatomy. The characters don't have joints." I found that a little blunt, but I ultimately took that as advice.

I remember someone called an old fanfic of mine 'outrageous'. She told me I was a 'moron' because the characters were ooc and asked me if I was even a true fan or knew the characters at all -__- I tried to take in the somewhat 'advice' she gave me, but my mind kept drifting back to those insults :( Constructive criticism is okay with me but just don't cuss me out or call me names is all I ask.

That's terrible. Some people blur the line between 'constructive' and 'destructive'. Constructive would be: "Hmm, I think your grammar could improve. Can I suggest a Beta?" whereas destructive would be: "Damn, your writing sucks, have you even read the books, stoopit idiot lololz". Pay no need to people who use such insults: it shows their insecurity and desperate need to feel 'intelligent' more than it shows your lack of skills. :) There's always room for improvement, and any true giver of concrit understands this.

Yeah now I've gotten better at just brushing those people off :) But everytime I posted a Kuroshitsuji fanfic on Fanfiction.Net it'd always be the same person or they'd bring their friends along to talk trash about my stuff *winces* I was also on a forum I believe just browsing through it and that same girl was talking about me to >< She said I was bullying and harassing her when I did nothing of the sort, just giving my opinion as she gave hers. If you give your opinion you should expect not everyone will agree with what you say.

That's good. :) Such people are meant to be ignored. If they're not helping, they should keep mum. The ironic part is, most of them wouldn't have the guts to say the same thing to one's face. They just huddle behind their shield of 'concrit' and say whatever nonsense they want.

Yeah they just use their computers or laptops to hide behind -__- I doubt they'd say it to the person's face. I feel loads better now but it hurt at the time :(

Some girl said that on my art. " This is terrible." On my Picture i worked hard on. She told me she was constructive criticizing me.

That's not constructive criticism then.

If she truly wanted to be constructive she would have said

"I like this artwork, but I see you may need some improvements on....."

or

"I like this, but maybe you should try to work more on...."

Those are examples of constructive criticisms, not blantantly saying someone's art "is terrible"

Here's my interpretation.

People will say crap and offensive things about other people's art, then they would say its constructive criticism so they can defend their insults.

That's pretty low for people like that.

IF you're going to be a critique, you must learn to point out the good things first, and then throw in tips. And when I say tips, I don't mean saying, 'the anatomy is wrong', I mean saying 'anatomy wise, you may want to fix the hips. A good way of remembering how they line up on the female anatomy...' . That way, the artist can actually improve using what you've told them!

This was one of the reasons why I left Nintendo Fan Forum who I posted my fanfics. Most reviews I got were rude criticism and just point out all the negatives and rarely even point out positives. On Bulbagarden however, I got true constructive criticism since the reviews tell me what I can improve on and so on. Unlike NFF, On Bulbagarden, you are not allowed to make rude and negative comments on somebody's work since the person doing that would get an infraction. This is why I love Bulbagarden forums which I am a member of. Besides it is important to build each other up instead of putting each other down which is what I learned from my mom and dad.

under some circumstances even critism can look rude.
for example if someones comment just consists of
anatomy is wrong, the angle and perspective are off and the characters look flat.

they may think they are being harsh to be kind but really it dosent vary much from: this is awful

i feel the best crit dosent just piobnt out flaws but what the artist is doing right so they know what direction to head in for example:
the poses and concept is great however the colour could use more vinbrance trying using more contrest and darker tones to even out the highlight... and so on

i agree totally. I try to keep that in mind when commenting myself :}

speaking of constructive criticism :p this is a tad bit hard to read. i think because the lettering is so small, but it might be the rainbow flash as well. I had to squint. Maybe make it scroll so the font can be larger? :

A "troll", I guess you can call him started saying that my one friend's poem sucked, and he gave no reason for it. He just kept saying "Yea, this part sucks, its terrible, you are a terrible artist" and then he'd put random gibberish responses when me, my one friend, and another friend of mine, would try to get him to give us a reason why. It was really rude and I really hate people like that.
